Morning Sickness: Hormones & Pregnancy

    What if I’m just too nauseous to feel like having sex, so you’re feeling too queasy to get busy now that you’re pregnant?

    You’re not alone. This is an incredibly common complaint, particularly in the first trimester, when 3/4 of women get so-called morning sickness, which really should be called most of the day sickness. It may be due in part to your body reacting to the pregnancy hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin hormone).

    So why does this happen? Estrogen and progesterone also may play a role by slowing down your digestive process, adding the exhaustion most women feel out of the gate, and it’s no wonder that you’re not up for it.

    So what can you do? Try rearranging the romance to a different time of the day, such as before bed, if you feel lousy in the morning. The good news is, morning sickness usually ends by week 12 to 14, so if you’re feeling more tired then turned on. Hang in there and try to be patient with yourself. You’ll feel more like yourself again soon. Remember, it’s all a dance!
