I want to get pregnant, but I’m having a hard time. Can a pelvic floor physical therapist help?
The answer is yes. If your pelvic floor muscles are tight, in spasm or uncoordinated, it can make it difficult for the body to welcome a pregnancy and allow for implantation. Pelvic floor PT’s spend much more time with their patients than the typical gynecologist, usually 45 to 60 minutes, compared to a visit to a gynecologist of 10 to 15 minutes.
Pelvic floor physical therapists can often pick up on muscular imbalances and circulatory or nervous system issues that may be contributing factor to a current inability to conceive. Treatment also often costs much less than current fertility options on the market, while impairing you with a much deeper understanding of your personal anatomy and function.
So what can you do? Ask your doctor for a referral or search for a pelvic PT in your area and book a consultation. Also, if you’re trying to get pregnant, make sure to take a look at your lifestyle and make some positive changes. Focus on your diet. Make sure you get plenty of sleep and you’re exercising regularly. I have some other videos that can help like yoga for fertility to practice good alignment and many videos on the importance of having a healthy diet and lifestyle.
