Why are processed foods bad in menopause?
I’m gonna talk a little bit about carbs and why they’re bad in menopause. That’s because the hormonal and metabolic changes that happen during this time can make us become more carbohydrate sensitive and insulin resistant. Heavily processed foods often include unhealthy levels of added sugar, sodium, and fats.
These ingredients make the food we eat taste better, but too much of them leads to serious health issues like obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Diets rich in processed foods and refined carbohydrates can also increase insulin resistance and hot flashes. Alcohol and spicy foods can also aggravate menopausal symptoms by worsening hot flashes and irritability.
So what can you do? Eat more whole foods. Look closer at the foods that are in their natural state, like deep greens, veggies and fruits. All these are way more healthy for you and they are full of nutrients and tons of natural enzymes that your body needs to digest and assimilate the nutrition.
And another thing, look at the ingredients labels. And you know, my thing is if there’s something on there that I can’t pronounce or I don’t know what it is, I’m not buying that, so stay away from that. And, you know, a lot of the health food chains and stuff, you have to be really conscious cause they’re full of these foods that have these ingredients that you may not, you know, know what they are, so you have to be extra vigilant and really trust yourself in this process, and do your homework.
