If I Have a Hysterectomy, Will I Go Into Menopause?

By Annette Garcea

Can a hysterectomy cause menopause?

So actually, if you have just the uterus removed, this will not put you into menopause. But if you have the ovaries removed, this will put you directly into menopause, and there’s a whole slew of symptoms that will suddenly come on if you haven’t experienced perimenopause.

If you’re younger and you’ll be hit with that decline in the hormones of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone immediately, and this will create a little bit of havoc in your life, and that’s putting it mild so to speak. I have other article on the implications of those hormones declining and what you can do to help. So please take a look at some of my other blog posts for exploring those topics!
