Hey ladies, what are the factors that contribute to weight gain in menopause?
First off, as we get older we become less active. So you want to make sure that you keep exercising. It’s going to help you across the board with your hormone imbalances and fluctuations and with your mood and muscle mass and bone density.
Secondly, our metabolisms tend to slow down. So in order to get your metabolism working, diet is important. And also exercising with a high intensity interval training.
Thirdly, your blood sugar can be out of balance and this can be contributing to your weight gain and so balance your blood sugar through your diet. You want to eat stuff that doesn’t spike your blood sugar like sugars, coffee, alcohol, all these things create a tremendous spike and then fall and then we get the subsequent weight gain and fat storage.
And lastly, your nervous system can impact your weight, so you want to make sure that you’re stay away from stressful situations, try to do stuff that decreases your stress levels. As your hormones start to change, your nervous system is going to change too. And so we want to try to do meditation, yoga, things like that, that are going to calm our bodies, minds and keep the stress level low.
